Heart of the Ocean

2 Kings 20:1-5 (NKJV) [emphasis added] “In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’” Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying,“Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you.

Much like how Isaiah was faithful to deliver a word of the Lord to Hezekiah, so it is with this. This is delivering His message to you. It is not stated what exactly was in Hezekiah’s heart, but something clearly was there that was causing him to be ill (both physically and in his heart) and cutting his life short. We as readers of the scriptures don’t need to know what “it” was because it was between Hezekiah and the Lord, just as it is with you. The question is, what will your heart response be to the Lords’ word? Hezekiah turned his face immediately away from everything and everyone and prayed, then wept bitterly (Hebrew bakah gadowl: to weep, cry, wail, or lament in grief with great intensity, magnitude, and extent of tears). Hezekiah did not weep for fear of death. He wept for what was in his heart. That flood of tears brought a much needed release that allowed wave after wave of repentance to wash over him and cleanse him. And through the Lord’s great mercy and love, He turned Isaiah around to tell Hezekiah that because of it, He would heal Him (physically and that place in his heart).

The Father brings things to light not to hurt us, but rather to heal and save us! And your heart, like an ocean, is ready to burst from its great depths and breadth with a tsunami of tears that have been held back for far too long. This immense and powerful swelling in your heart has been like a poison in you. Beloved, turn your face to Him and allow what is in your heart to come forth and pour out to your Heavenly Father. There is no shame or condemnation. There is only the Father’s open arms of love, shalom, freedom, mercy, grace, and healing to be found. When you let this go, Your Abba Father wants to encourage you with such a deep, passionate and yearning love, “I hear your prayers, I see your tears, and I will surely heal you”. Beloved, hear Him again. He will surely heal you. Abba Father loves you, cares for you, and will faithfully see you through every wave of pain, every storm in life, all the hurricanes that threaten, and anything that tries to pollute you. Your heart is an ocean that is never meant to be sealed off and shut down. It is one that by faith, taking His hand, you can walk on the water of your ocean of tears side by side with Him and have total shalom and unspeakable joy forever and ever.
