Tend Your Light

Your light, Father, it calls to us – like a lighthouse on a bank surrounded by a body of water. It may be the very dark of night and the storm may be raging around us, but the beacon of hope is shining out. It is guiding us back to safety, back to the wonderful warm glow of light that floods – out piercing any darkness. The light is brighter in the darkness, and the darkness cannot shut it out.

You are calling to us all, “Come into the light. Find your rest, your security, your refreshing from the storms of life. Seek Me and you will find me.” Your great light resides in us. You set the example by displaying that light to the the world. May we not hide our light, but shine it out – be the beacon for others to find the way to You, Father God.  It’s all about seeking Your face.

As the storms of life rage around us, and the battle becomes intense, we fight to keep our light burning. It may seem like a tiny flicker, and we wonder “how can this small light serve any good purpose.”

Father says, “I see that you are struggling, but through it all you are shining out. And I stand with you. You are not alone.”

When we understand we are not alone, but Father is with us, somehow His great light combines with our small light and the two become one huge blast of light.  The storm doesn’t seem as fierce with the bright light. We start to realize if God is for us, who or what can come against us?

Father is asking of us, “Will you take the time to keep your light burning?” As a lighthouse requires maintenance to keep the light shining, there are things we should do to make sure our light is properly shining. Does the lens need to be cleaned?  Do some of the bulbs need to be replaced?  Maybe even a recharge is required? Maintenance is required, and daily time with the Father to make sure our light is burning. We must be close to the source to reflect it back.

Oh Father burn within us and set our light on fire, so we reflect You and Your Character into this world.

1 Peter 2:9 (CJB) In order for you to declare the praises of One who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.

Isaiah 60:1 (NKJV) Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

Psalm 27:7 (CJB) Adonai is my light and my salvation; whom do I need to fear? Adonai is the stronghold of my life; of whom should I be afraid?

Matthew 5:14-16  (CJB) “You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Likewise, when people light a lamp, they don’t cover it with a bowl but put it on a lamp stand, so that it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in Heaven.
