Be the Light

Illuminating Light”  by Meghan Williams of Dyed4you Art

Matthew 5:14-16 (AMP) “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

Ephesians 5:8-9 (TPT) Once your life was full of sin’s darkness, but now you have the very light of our Lord shining through you because of your union with him. Your mission is to live as children flooded with his revelation-light! And the supernatural fruits of his light will be seen in you—goodness, righteousness, and truth.

God has recently been highlighting the words “lampstand” and “lightning” to me.  I went exploring in Scripture as well as on the internet. I had never really understood how lightning was formed until I read the link below but it was very eye opening.

A definition of lightning and how it causes thunder can be found at https://www.nssl.noaa.gov/education/svrwx101/lightning/.

A general summary is that when positive charges and negative charges build up in the atmosphere the tension between the two eventually breaks through the air that is insulating those charges between the clouds and the ground. These flashes of lightning temporarily equalize the charged regions. The lightning also releases such intense energy that it heats the air to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit and causes the air to explode outward creating the sound of thunder.

What I sense that God is revealing is that we are the light or the positive energy in the atmosphere, and we are standing against the dark or negative energy (our enemy, Satan, and his plans). As we stand firm in the truth and declare God’s truth, love, and righteousness, we cause the pressure to be released and God’s voice will thunder across the region, which is our world.

So I would encourage you to continue to stand firm in your faith, putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) so that you can stand and shine the light of God in the darkest of places.

Choose to be the light no matter the circumstances. This light can take many forms. This light can be gentle and graceful and tender like a candle flame. This light can also be powerful and mighty like lightning. Both release the light of Christ into the world, so shine brightly, beloved. Choose to shine brightly.
