One night, I was listening to a song my eldest son Jonathan wrote years ago called “Just One Word.” Then the next day, as I was watching a movie about Abraham, it stood out how that one Word God spoke to him carried him through so much. No matter what the opposition, Abraham fell back on the Word of God’s promise to him.
When what he saw before him spoke possible defeat, Abraham knew that could not be right. There was a promise yet to be fulfilled and some things that needed to first be in place, even if he wasn’t going to be around to see the full expanse of the promise because it went beyond his years. The promise would outlive him and indeed is still to this day being fulfilled. That’s so amazing!
Just One Word, Lord!
Galatians 3:29 (KJV) And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Genesis 12:2-3 (AMPC) And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and [a]curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].
