{vision} Holy Spirit is bringing to mind a graphic I worked on for social media. It was a picture of a man with his eyes closed and a peaceful expression on his face. He was listening. I overlaid the photo of sound waves to represent someone who was listening with their spiritual ears, listening for the frequency of the Father’s heart.
God speaks in so many ways. When we really stop to think about it, His voice is resonating in all of creation. In the beginning, He spoke creation into existence, and every particle conformed to His will. 1 Kings 19:12 (NIV) After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
One of the questions I get asked the most is, “How do you know you’re hearing God and are in His will?”
I remember personally asking this question so often, and for some reason, nobody could truly answer it. Now I can say I’m so thankful for my own personal journey with Papa and the amazing people He brought into my life that have shown and taught me so much. Regardless of what you’re facing at the moment, allow me to reassure you that you will appreciate the experience later, no matter how painful and difficult it may be. God is using every single situation to teach us and grow us closer to Him.
Now, how do I know I hear God? Peace! That is the answer to everything. It’s really that simple. Unfortunately, as humans, we love to overcomplicate things. Simply put, we have to step out of our comfort zone and trust God to guide us and lead us on the path He’s called us to. When we have that thirsty desire to please God and do His will, we have to take chances. It’s OK to make mistakes, however, we’re also responsible to own up to them and not make excuses or try to defend our actions. Learning how to hear God does mean making mistakes.
A small whisper, a gut feeling, an unexplained knowing—all of this followed by peace is God speaking! Be confident in who you are in the Lord. Don’t listen to the enemy’s lies. He’s the father of lies but we are the righteousness of God through Christ. Refresh your memory with what your true identity is in the Lord. Know that you hear Him. Know that He lives in you and that He will never leave you or forsake you.
John 16:33(NIV) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
His transcendent majesty and power is beyond comprehension. We celebrate His creative power: that at His spoken word, the galaxies, planets and stars were launched into being – that all of His teeming creation rushes to respond to the sound of His voice. I awake in the morning to the sound of bird song. I sit up and look around the room You prepared for me. It’s warm and inviting and as the sunlight streams through my window I feel content but as I arise to start my day, I feel pain in my body, my mind and my heart…then I remember…the long battle. I try to shake the images of the battle from my mind but it doesn’t work and I start to panic. Then I hear You humming in the kitchen. The sound of Your humming is like the Balm of Gilead. Beloved, for those who choose to be on My side, My faithfulness knows no bounds. So choose Me, and align with Me, and watch My steadfast love manifest. Listen for My voice – whether thunderous or whispered, and be yielding and obey.
I AM the rock of strength for you to lean on, your firm foundation – the unchangeable One. Choose Me. And be steadfast in your choice. I AM the eternal One – the giver of life, embrace Me.
John 6:68 (AMP) Simon Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You [alone] have the words of eternal life [you are our only hope].
John 3:5-6 (TPT) Jesus answered, “I speak an eternal truth: Unless you are born of water and Spirit-wind, you will never enter God’s kingdom realm. For the natural realm can only give birth to things that are natural, but the spiritual realm gives birth to supernatural life!
Beloved, pursue Me. Seek hard after the things of heaven, and expect the wind of My Spirit to blow. Be intentional to cultivate your spiritual senses. That which you focus on, you make room for. If you want more of My Spirit, make room by focusing in, and hone your senses so that you might receive.
I AM always eager and ready to interact with My children. If you press into Me, I will press in to you. The depth of relationship available to you with Me is fathomless.
